On 16 June 1981, pla duk fry averaging 0.1 g each were stocked in six 15-m ponds ; and 10,000 fish per pond, 2 ponds. The fish survival (%), absolute growth (g), production (kg), feed conversion, and economic returns (%), respectively, were as follows : the low stocking level treatment, 79.53, 96.07, 381.49, 1.40, 44.38 ; the low stocking level treatment,91.06,, 89, 607.32, 1.49, 53.62; and the high stocking level treatments, 90.73, 85.51, 775.04, 1.27, 80.93. The economic feasibility for small scale culture of this fish was also estimated. |

The economic feasibility for small scale culture of this fish was also estimated. |

The results of the organoleptic test of uncooked Nham-Pla prepared from rock salt showed differences (p<0.05) in appearance, texture, odor and average acceptability scores with the exception for dark meat flesh from hybrid catfish which received the lowest acceptability score of color. The organoleptic tests of cooked Nham-Pla prepared by using rock salt revealed that Nham-Pla made from striped catfish received the highest acceptability score for the appearance characteristic and there were no differences in odor, taste and average acceptability score for both samples prepared from rock salt and solar salt. Nham-Pla made from Nile tilapia with solar salt received the lowest acceptability score, but they received the highest acceptability score for texture. Nham-Pla made from snake-head fish using solar salt received better acceptability scores than Nham-Pla prepared by using rock salt. According to the results, rock salt and solar salt were important for Nham-Pla preparation based on species of fresh water fish and some of their characteristics. |

Twenty 75-liter aquaria were arranged into five treatments which were stocked with 0.05 g pla duk dan larvae at each of the following rates : 500, 1,000 , 1,500 , 2,000 , 2500 per aquarium. The fish were fed a 40% protein moist pellet at 20% of fish body weigh per day for six days a week, and the daily feed allowance was weekly adjusted. For a two -month period of feeding,higher stocking rates resulted in greater weight gains per aquarium,slightly lower but not statistically different weight gains per fish and survival values. |

The drug was administered as 20% solution at the dosage of 200 mg/kg. body weight. Blood samples were collected at specific times via the caudal blood vessels and determined by the Direct and Total method of Bratton and Marshall. Following intravenous administration, the drug was excreted within 108 hours. The maximum plasma concentration reached 32.72 mg % and 28.4 mg % following the intravenous and intramuscular dosing and maintained above 5 mg % for 24 hours. The drug was incompletely absorbed after oral administration. Approximately 70.57% and 16.63% of the given dose were absorbed following intramuscular and oral administration, respectively. The biphasic shape of the plasma disappearance curve suggested that a two compartment model would be used to describe the behavior of the drug in catfish. |

Each dietary treatment was randomly assigned to three tanks which were stocked with 100 fish. Fish were fed seven days a week at the rate of 10% of fish body weight, and their dairy feed allowances were increased weekly on the basis of fish weight gain. Growth for each diet was compared along with survival rates and feed conversion ratios. Statistical analyses indicated that of the diets tested, a diet containing 25% protein produced optimum growth. |

It was found that 0.7% papain or 0.3% bromelin yielded the highest soluble nitrogen in the hydrolyzates. The proximate composition of the oyster sauce prepared from 0.7% papain or 0.3%bromelin hydrolyzates appeared to be similar. The acceptability scores of the two prepared sauces were not significantly different. The preference scores of stirred fried Chinese watercrest with the prepared oyster sauce were higher than the sample with the commercial oyster sauce (P <=0.05). |

Normally, fish sauce is made from marine fish such as Stolephorus spp.. Nowadays, raw materials for fish sauce processing are scarce and costs have increased, so the objective of this study was to see if surimi waste could be used to reduce the production costs for fish sauce. The quality of the fish sauce made from surimi waste passed the standard of the Ministry of Public Health Notification Number 203 (Fish Sauce) which sets the minimum protein and NaCl level at 9 and 200 g/l, respectively. The fish sauce produced had average protein content in the range 11.14- 15.33 g/l, with sodium chloride content in the range 241-345 g/l. |
